
Pears in red wine, Braised
Braised Pears are a simple, traditional but very elegant accompaniment to a celebratory dinner or do it differently and serve as a desert with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
Ingredients
Method
- Add the red wine in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Lower the heat and add the cinnamon sticks, lemon zest, ground cloves and Cointreau and simmer gently for 5 minutes
- Add the pears and sugar. Put the lid on the pan and simmer on low heat for one hour, boil gently until the pears are soft.
- Carefully remove the pears and place them on a serving dish.
- Sift the remaining wine mixture and put it back into the pan. Bring to a boil over high heat and reduce to syrup.
- Pour the red wine syrup over the pears.
