Ingredients
Method
Vanilla Vla
- Pour the whole milk into a saucepan. Scrape the vanilla pod and put the vanilla together with the stick in the milk. Bring the milk to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes on low heat while stirring occasionally
- In the meantime, mix up the sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks and salt. After 10 minutes, remove the vanilla pod from the pan and stir in a few tablespoons of warm milk through your egg mixture. Then you gently beat the egg mixture through the milk. Turn the heat a little higher and let it thicken to custard while you keep stirring
- Then turn off the heat, pour the custard into a bowl and allow to cool slightly. This custard is delicious to eat lukewarm. You can also let it cool down and store it in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. Cover or finish with plastic foil, otherwise there will be a sheet on the custard and that would be a shame
Chocolate Vla
- Mix custard powder, cocoa powder and sugar, and mix with a deciliter of cold milk.
- Bring the remaining milk to the boil, and add the paste while stirring. The custard is bound within a minute.
- Turn down the heat, and heat for two more minutes while you continue to beat with the whisk. Pour the custard into a bowl immediately and cover with plastic wrap to cool.
